Painting Abstracts

Abstract Landscape Watercolor Paintings, Ocean and Sky, by Elise Engh: Grow Creative

I don't know why I don't paint more abstracts.  I always have fun when I do!

Lately, I'm into abstracts that sort of look like landscapes, like these that remind me of the ocean and sky.  I had those in mind while painting :)

What kind of abstracts do like to paint?  Do they have a resemblance to anything or is it just pure colors and forms?

In the Works

crochet hexagons

I'm slowly getting my energy back, but I still need lots of rest and down time.  So.... I crochet.  I have a couple of projects in the works I wanted to share.  First- hexagons to be made into a blanket at some point.  Here's the tutorial I've been using to make these:

And the other project is a rug made from double stranded cotton yarn!  Yay!  I'll be posting a pattern once it's done and I can photograph it in my new house :)

Photos of the Week

I still can't manage long walks, but I can do the small ones and there's still plenty of nature to photograph!

Icecream and Popsicles

Watercolor Popsicle Paintings, Originals by Elise Engh: Grow Creative
Five Watercolor Popsicles
I've been busy creating paintings of my favorite summer foods- ice cream and popsicles!
They're my favorite because I have such good memories of these treats outdoors with my siblings and cousins- and now my own son.  Summer is the best :)

These are all 9x12s - bigger than I normally paint.  Now I just need a bigger scanner!  So I have a question for you other artists out there, how do digitize your work?  Do you scan yourself or hire it out?  What scanner do you use?
