I think we've seen the last of the ice at the lake.

These two sayings go hand in hand. I didn't think of that until after I created these pieces, but it's true. Doesn't it take a little bit of bravery to let yourself wonder and marvel at the beautiful amazing things in this world? Are we afraid that we'll be disappointed or let down? Afraid that we'll lose something? I have been there.
As a mother who can bear no more children of my own, I'm sometimes afraid to let myself wonder what my life would be like if one day we could adopt. I'm afraid to let myself wonder at the possibility. I'm afraid of it not happening, so I don't let myself hope for that. I guess my next watercolor lettering piece should be hope!

I pass this old truck on the side of the road several times a week and always I notice how amazing the color is. A rusty turquoise....... you can't beat that! So one day I actually stopped and photographed it.
I'm learning that one major component to photography is seizing the moment. When you see something amazing, you have to stop what you're doing and photograph it because it might not be there next time and light always changes. Carpe diem!

My current projects- some finished....... some not.
I found this pretty curtain panel at Savers and loved the fabric so much that I turned it into a couple of pillows. One can never have too many pillows!
The beginnings of a crochet jacket which I had intended to finish before winter was over..... oh well. I'll finish it next year.
A beanie loosely based on this star beanie. I couldn't get the original pattern to work for me, so I kinda substituted a different stitch. I don't like how it looks on me though- so nope, I'm not modeling it for you!
A large custom floral painting- just about done!
I want to paint one of these for my living room now :)

Fog, frost, and snow. That was our week. We aren't used to fog at all so it was fun for us :)
We live right next to these open hills and tried to find a geo-cache in them one afternoon. Either the cache was gone or we dug in all the wrong places. Either way- we loved the adventure and it was gorgeous when the sun came out for a few minutes.

I'm trying to break into the lettering trend and I've had an explosion of design ideas...... some good........some needing improvement.
I'm posting some of this stuff just so you can see how much I really do practice at this art thing. It's not a given. It takes work and sacrificing some materials to get there. I find I'm freer with my ideas if I stop worrying about wasting paper and just let myself work and re-work designs out.
A few of these are available in my shop. Another post to come on that later!

It's almost Valentine's Day.................. and so my yearly heart photography tradition continues!
I'm glad I've had a blog long enough to make this a tradition. Let's see ........ I've done the heart photography thing for ....................five years now. It's been awesome! But I'm starting to run out of ideas. I've now made hearts o most of my art and craft supplies, my son's play dough, and gummy bears. It will be a challenge to see how long I can keep this going!

My art room is a work in progress, but I do have a shelf up now!
I'm so blessed to have a room for my passion, my hobby, and my sanity. Here's a peek into what I call my "art room".
P.S. Its usually not this clean........
My table is littered with watercolor lettering attempts and all kinds of ideas. I have too many ideas in my head to paint right now!
This bulletin board makes me happy- so many cool color schemes to draw from.
What is your creative space like?

Does Valentine's Day make your hungry for chocolate? Or maybe something pink?
I know pink is not a flavor but somehow just knowing that something is pink makes me think it tastes better :)
This year I experimented with toast, strawberry cream cheese, and strawberries- cut in the shape of hearts.
Here's how you make Valentine's Toast:
You can cut the hearts out before you toast the bread or after (either way works). And either way it tastes as good as it looks!

I got to see a new temple! It was amazing. I felt such peace there.
All of those good feelings were enhance by the fact that my husband had the day off and we let our son skip school that day so we could all have this experience together. This is one experience I wanted my son to have while he is young. It was special.
And I threw in a few pictures from a walk.
Winter is beginning to feel very long, but I'm hoping for warmer days ahead with more energy and fewer migraines. I'm slowly coming to terms with the effects of my last surgery and I'm adjusting. Every week I feel just a little bit better than the last.
